At Basic Military Training (BMT), your loved one is assigned to a specific squadron — their home for the entire 7.5-week journey at Joint Base San Antonio–Lackland. Each squadron has its own mascot, motto, colors, and traditions that build pride, camaraderie, and resilience.

From the Wolfpack to the Mustangs, every squadron reflects the strength and discipline the Air Force stands for. Families often cheer for their trainee’s squadron during the Airman’s Run and wear apparel tied to their squadron’s symbol with pride.
